How to open source a project, but still protect company logos and trademarks that may exist in the code
What’s the appropriate strategy to open source a project under something like a GPL or BSD license, but still protect the logos and trademark of the company? Specifically, the program contains company logos in the GUI for the software. Generally, it’s easier to just distribute these logos as part of the code repository. However, in this instance, I’m interested in open sourcing the code, but not the company identity, logos, or trademark. As such, what are different ways of handling this situation?
